Mivtza
Purim An Astounding Success
Chabad
Houses around the world took part in mivtza Purim, helping Jews
perform the four mitzvos of Purim – mikra megilla, mishloach
manos, matanos la’evyonim, and mishteh v’simcha. Being
that this year is the fiftieth year of the Rebbe’s leadership, the
Purim campaign was carried out with greater effort than ever before.
More hospitals and senior citizen homes, police stations (in Eretz
Yisroel) and jails, and community and business centers were visited this
Purim. The statistics in New York alone are quite impressive, with over
400 events that took place in greater New York, and visits by Anash and
Tmimim to 300 senior citizen homes, 52 hospitals, 46 prisons, and 45,000
stores and businesses in the metropolitan area.
Irgun
Talmidei HaYeshivos in New York published an attractive Purim guide. A
special section of the guide was devoted to the topic of Redemption and
its connection to Purim. Readers are urged to personally increase in mitzvos
and good deeds to hasten the coming of Moshiach. 100,000 copies of the
guide were printed and distributed by shluchim and Anash.
The
Moshiach Information Center of Canada, directed by shaliach Rabbi
Zushe Zilberstein produced a colorful mishloach manos box.
In
Eretz Yisroel, Tzach published a Purim guide for children and adults,
and prepared mishloach manos for distribution at medical centers,
army bases, and for I.D.F. widows. The Aguda Lemaan HaGeula HaAmitis
V’Hashleima also produced a brochure about the mitzvos of Purim
and their connection to the Geula. May all these activities tip
the scale to bring about the hisgalus now!
