Spiritual Center For Georgian Jews Opens
A
festive ceremony was held for the chanukas ha’bayis of the new
spiritual center for Georgian Jews, as well as the beis midrash
gavoha l’horaa in Shikun Chabad, Lud.
Rabbi
Ariel Michaelashvili, rav of Givat Zeitim in Lud, emceed the
evening’s program. He greeted the hundreds of guests and then read a
letter the Rebbe MH”M sent to Georgian Jewry of Lud 25 years ago on
the occasion of the chanukas ha’ bayis they made then.
Rabbi
Mordechai Ashkenazi, rav of Kfar Chabad and rosh kollel
for 15 years, spoke about the importance of continuing the golden chain
of Georgian Jewry in Eretz Yisroel.
Rabbi
Shimon Chinashvili, director of Friends of the Mosdos, promised his
continued support of the mosdos, and saluted the Rebbe’s shluchim,
who have come out to far-flung villages in Georgia to encourage the Jews
there with the light of Chassidus Chabad.
Rabbi
Refael Alashvili, chief rabbi of the Georgian community in Eretz Yisroel,
spoke about the mesirus nefesh of the Georgian rabbanim,
who persevered in disseminating Torah through the era of communist
oppression.
