The
Largest Jewish Newspaper In France Reports: Even
Non-Believers Respect
The Faith Of Lubavitch
A
notably positive article about Chabad in Eretz Yisroel appeared in
the most popular Jewish newspaper in France, Juive Actualite,
under the headline: “The Religious Whom the Secular Respect.”
Under a subtitle noting a religious movement in Eretz Yisroel
which all secular Jews regard with respect, the article goes on to
describe the principles of Chabad Chassidus regarding the
dissemination of Yiddishkeit, with an emphasis on
Lubavitchers’ belief in the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach.
Here
is a translation of a few paragraphs from the article:
“Lubavitchers
have an advantage over other ardent believers, for their esteemed
leader, Rabbi M.M. Schneerson, is perpetually alive.
“In
accordance with the rabbinic decision of 5751, the Lubavitcher
Rebbe is considered b’chezkas Moshiach, and in many
Chabad centers they continue to use the title Melech HaMoshiach.
“The
picture of Melech HaMoshiach can be seen throughout the country,
and the most amazing thing is that even those who don’t have
this perspective, respect the Lubavitchers’ faith.
“This
tolerance, which is so rare among us, is in itself an amazing
phenomenon.”
The
Rebbe’s shluchim in France were not surprised by the
article; all journalists in contact with Lubavitcher Chassidim in
France know about their faith in the Rebbe MH”M. The Chassidim,
however, were not aware that the journalists understood that this
faith is not exclusive to France, but represents the sentiments of
shluchim and Chassidim around the world.
