The
Coronation Of The King Part 2
(Responses
of the Rebbe MH”M in free translation)
THE
REBBE ANSWERS CHABAD WOMEN IN YERUSHALAYIM ABOUT COLLECTING
SIGNATURES ACCEPTING THE REBBE AS MOSHIACH
N’shei
Chabad in Yerushalayim were planning a kinus for kabbalas
ha’malchus. The group was divided as to whether the kabbalas
ha’malchus should include signatures accepting the Rebbe
as Moshiach. The two sides finally decided to send their views to
the Rebbe on two separate sheets of paper which would be handed in
together.
When
the notes were received, the Rebbe first took the one in favor of
the idea of the signatures and said:
“May
it be in a good and successful time, I will mention it at the tziyun.”
Then
the Rebbe examined the second note for a few seconds. This note
expressed concern that asking for signatures could push people
away. The Rebbe asked for the first note again and placed it on
top of the second (negative) note. After examining the first note,
the Rebbe took the second note and put it aside. The Rebbe gave
the first note back to the secretary with the instruction:
“Give
them the answer” (mentioned above).
CHABAD
WOMEN ASK WHETHER TO WAGE A PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN ABOUT THE IDENTITY
OF MOSHIACH THROUGHOUT THE WORLD
The
N’shei Chabad of Crown Heights received an interesting answer
about their extensive plans to publicize Moshiach’s identity
throughout the world:
“The
role of any administration, this one [N’shei Chabad] included,
is to run things according to their understanding and not to ask
me to look into it, for that would mean that I am the
administrator. Informing me is clearly sufficient. I will mention
it at the tziyun.
IN
CHICAGO THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT THE REBBE BEING MOSHIACH
One
of the shluchim in Chicago wrote: “The boys and girls in
the school in Chicago are heatedly involved in the topic of
Moshiach. In town they say that Lubavitch is involved in Moshiach
and that the Lubavitcher Rebbe is Moshiach. We see that when we
speak pleasantly with words that come from the heart, it is
accepted, and the time has already arrived for Hashem to answer
the plea of the Jewish people that our king and Moshiach be
revealed very soon.”
The
Rebbe answered, “Continue [giving] good news. I will mention it
at the tziyun.”
THE
RAV OF A CHABAD CONGREGATION IN LUD ASKS: SHOULD WE PUBLICIZE TO
OUTSIDERS THAT THE REBBE IS MOSHIACH?
Rabbi
Shalom Dovber Volpe was invited to Lud to give a class on “Rebbe
b’chezkas Moshiach.” Some people were nervous about this
and wanted to bring a different speaker, but the rav of the
community, Rabbi Yurkowitz, said there was no longer any problem
in saying that the Rebbe is Melech HaMoshiach, even to outsiders.
They decided to ask the Rebbe what to do. On 16 Adar 1 5752, the
Rebbe answered:
“A
judge (the rav on location) can only decide based on what
his eyes see.”
*
To Rabbi Chaim Gutnick, who wrote that he was afraid to undertake
Moshiach projects lest the Rebbe not approve, the Rebbe answered:
“It
has already been said about this: A judge can only decide based on
what his eyes see.”
SHOULD
THEY STOP PUBLICIZING MOSHIACH’S IDENTITY?
A
Lubavitcher woman wrote to the Rebbe: “Some say that what
happened on 27 Adar occurred as a consequence of the special
activities to hasten the Geula. [These activities include]
saying [that the Rebbe is Moshiach] and beseeching Hashem to allow
the Rebbe to be revealed as Melech HaMoshiach. If this is indeed
so, should we then cease such activities?”
When
the secretary finished reading the letter, the Rebbe did not
react. “Should we not respond to this woman?” asked the
secretary. The Rebbe responded in the negative. “Should we
respond to her?” The Rebbe responded positively. The secretary
asked, “Should she be told to stop in order that we merit the
realization of the Geula and the revelation of the
Rebbe?” The Rebbe responded in the negative. “Should we tell
her to continue and increase?” The Rebbe nodded his head in the
affirmative.
*
Two days later a similar letter arrived. After the secretary
finished reading the letter to the Rebbe, he said that the
Rebbe’s response of two days before had made an impact. The
Rebbe nodded his head in agreement. In answer to the secretary’s
question, “Does that answer apply here also?” the Rebbe nodded
his head in the affirmative.
CAN
WE PUT ADS IN THE NEW YORK TIMES STATING THAT THE REBBE IS MELECH
HA’MOSHIACH?
Rabbi
Yitzchok Springer distributed tens of thousands of forms with
which people could undertake resolutions to increase in Torah and mitzvos.
At first the heading on these forms said “Help to bring
Moshiach,” but after a while he changed it to “Help Melech
HaMoshiach.” The Rebbe warmly accepted this latter version and
responded with encouraging answers.
Rabbi
Groner read the text of the ads that Rabbi Springer had written
for publication in the newspapers in Yiddish, Hebrew, and English.
He then asked the Rebbe whether the ads could be printed referring
to the Rebbe as Melech HaMoshiach and whether the Rebbe’s
picture could be included. The Rebbe answered in the affirmative.
A
TEFILLIN BROCHURE WITH THE REBBE’S PICTURE AND “YECHI”
In
Adar 5753, the Rebbe was shown a page of a tefillin
brochure with the Sh’ma written on it, illustrated with a
picture of the Rebbe and the caption of “Yechi…” The
Rebbe was asked for his blessing and consent. The Rebbe, who in
the past had instructed that his picture be removed from a similar
page that had said “Prepare for the coming of Moshiach,”
responded in the affirmative.
A
FRENCH BROCHURE ABOUT MOSHIACH’S IDENTITY
In
Nissan 5753, the Rebbe gave his consent and blessing to Rabbi
Yaakov Blum of Paris for the brochure he produced that explained
the topic of Moshiach and identified the Rebbe as Moshiach.
ENCOURAGING
“YECHI” IN FRONT OF MILLIONS OF SPECTATORS
On
Yud Shvat 5753, worldwide media had announced that there would be
a coronation of Moshiach, and thousands of people arrived in 770
to be present for the event. There were some apprehensive askanim
who asked the Rebbe not to attend the gathering so that it should
not look as if the Rebbe approved of what the media thought would
be a coronation ceremony. The Rebbe did not accede to their
request.
The
Rebbe appeared on the balcony in front of thousands of people, and
while millions more watched the event on television, the Rebbe
encouraged the proclamation and singing of “Yechi...”
(Long live the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach forever and ever!)
